Vivo NEX 3 review

When smartphones were playing smart and going after notches, Vivo took the big step and brought a pop-up camera module in the market. This is what the Vivo NEX series is all about! The new Vivo NEX 3 brings something new this time and we are not surprised. The new concept of Waterfall display - the first Vivo Apex concept phone. This radical futuristic design has raised the hopes of consumers but Vivo has packed all the high-end stuff to run this device. But, does it make a worthy option to buy? Let's check it out in the Vivo NEX 3 review below:

Design and Display

The Vivo NEX series has revolutionized the smartphone designs- big time. Every time the new NEX is launched, we have got used to expecting a new sleek cutting-edge design. And, the NEX 3 is no different. The last NEX had displayed on its back but this one the brand has become more sensible. And this time, there are no sides. It is all display on the sides too- they call it "Waterfall display." Still, it is comfortable to hold and keeps its premium-ness on the prime. You can get great discount on electronic devices online using Paytm mall coupons.

On the back glass panel, you see the camera in rounded-module and the back is colored dark shiny and glimmery. There are no power and volume buttons as they are replaced by pressure-sensitive zones along the right edge, backed by realistic haptic-feedback. There is no notch but a pop-up camera module with a secondary power button and the headphone jack.

Coming to the display, the Vivo NEX 3 packs a 6.89-inch P-OLED display which is curving 88-degrees on the sides- most curved screen on a smartphone!  And, this helps in attaining a screen-to-body ratio of 99.6%! This screen is best for everything- be it gaming, watching movies or TV series- you are going to be entertained. But, it is very difficult to handle the display- especially, when it comes to accidental touches. Still, this display is igniting and striking innovation.

Performance

Under the hood, the Vivo NEX 3 has an octa-core Snapdragon 855+ chipset coupled with 8GB of RAM and has UFS 3.0 storage. The vapor chambers are fitted in this phone to keep the thermals cool and attain peak performance for a long time. The apps opened fast and were very responsive. The overall experience is smooth as butter and you will feel no lags or stutters. The gaming experience is fun and you can play games like PUBG Mobile on high graphics with ease.

Vivo NEX 3 runs Android 9 out of the box coupled with FunTouch OS on top of it, which looks like an old iOS rip-off.

Cameras

Talking about the cameras, the Vivo NEX sports a triple-camera module including a 64MP primary sensor with an f/1.7 aperture, a 13MP ultra-wide shooter and a 13MP telephoto lens. The main sensor is Samsung's new image sensor- not Sony's! The camera has excellent dynamic range and colors accurate. The images come out with crisp detailing. When switched to the ultra-wide sensor, the color and dynamic range fade a bit but it is expected with a smaller aperture. The telephoto lens is a good add-on but the results are softer. There is a 16MP shooter for selfies and results come out decent but not excellent.

Battery Life

Vivo NEX 3 is powered by a 4,500 mAh battery and is good for one-day of battery backup. Vivo has started prioritizing the battery capacities and FunTouch OS has always been great with efficiency. With hours of PUBG, regular calls, social networking, and web browsing, and music for an hour or half, this device can last an entire day. If you are a casual user, your device can stay awake for two days on a single charge. The Vivo NEX 3 comes with a 44W charger and a 22.5W FlashCharger depending on the location where you buy it. The onboard 22.5W FlashCharger can take the device from zero to sixty percent in 30 minutes and charge till a hundred in an hour. Final Verdict

There can be two sides if you look at this Vivo NEX 3 phone- you are looking at a futuristic tech which you can buy more earlier than it becomes mainstream in the market or you criticize it with weird features. This device is fascinating and it depends on your location which variant you can grab. There is no reason you should avoid this market if you are thinking to buy it and it stands tight and tall against all the competition. Not saying it is the best among all but surely a device to notice. It isn't cheap but comes with tons of innovation and upgrades. Unique concepts define this device and Vivo is playing with it. It depends on your choice whether you are ready to buy that concept or not.
