What is a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)?
Digital Signature is the electronic form of a signature. Digital Signature certifies an electronic document in the same way that a document can be authenticated by hand.
Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) can be submitted to prove identity electronically, to access services over the Internet, or to digitally sign on digital documents.
Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) provides high-level security to the information exchange happening in online transactions.
The DSC contains information about the user's identity (name, PIN code, country, email address, date of issue of the certificate and name of the certified authority).

How to get a digital signature?
Licensed Certifying Authority (CA) issues a digital signature. CA means a person who is licensed to issue a digital signature under the Information Technology Act of Section 24.
It can take from one day to one week for DSC to be released from CA.
The fees for each provider usually vary, and they are issued with a validity of one or two years.
Classes Of Digital Signature
Digital Signature in Hindi - There are various classes of digital signature:
i) DSC Class 1:
This validates the email identification of the DSC user.
ii) DSC Class 2:
This DSC confirms that the applications provided by the subscriber are not configuring the information in the recognized consumer database.
It is issued to businesses and private individuals.
iii) DSC Class 3:
It is issued directly by the DSC Certification Authority (CA) and induces a higher level of authenticity, as the applicant is required to present themselves and prove their identity in front of the registration authority to obtain it.
How do digital signatures work?
1) Apply signature -
i) When you click on "Sign", a unique digital fingerprint (called a hash) of the document is created using a mathematic algorithm.
ii) The hash is encrypted using the signer's private key. Both the encrypted hash and the signer's public key are added to the digit signature, which is attached to the document.
iii) Now this digitally signed document is ready for distribution.
2) Verifying the signature-
i) When this document is opened in a Digital Signature Capable program (eg, Adobe Reader, Microsoft Office), those programs use the Automatic Signer's Public Key (which was included in the digital signature with the document). Let's decrypt the hash of the document.
ii) This program calculates the new hash for the document. If this new hash matches the decrypted hash, then the program realizes that the document has not been changed and that the program displays the message of "The document has not been modified since this signature was applied".
