Ladakh is a heavenly land and full of natural wonders. It is one of the most scenic destinations of Incredible India. When you see tourist attractions like forts/palaces, monasteries which are settled with the backdrop of brown mountains with snow-capped peaks you remain stunned and spellbind. This Himalayan kingdom is perched at the elevation of 18,875 ft above from the sea level. The whole area is distributed within the higher altitude range of 11,880 ft to 18,875 ft.

It is also known as the land of high passes. There are 12 high passes that exist only in Ladakh where some of them are the highest motorable roads in the world, for example, Khardungla Pass, Chang La Pass. There are most beautiful lakes that also exist in Ladakh i.e Pangong Tso Lake, Tso Moriri Lake, etc.

Other main attractions are monasteries for which Ladakh is known for. There are near around 20 monasteries that exist in Ladakh all are beautiful and best for seeking mental peace. The majority of people in Ladakh are the followers of Buddhism and it is influenced by Tibetan Buddhism ideology.

Miscellaneous attractions are  Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, Ladakh Hall of Fame, Nubra Valley, Shyok Valley, Indus & Zanskar Convergence Point.

Best Time to Visit

Ladakh is not all year destination due to its climatic conditions. The best time to visit Leh Ladakh is End of the March to June and then from the month of September to November. This is a suitable time to visit this place as the weather remains pleasant and clear. This area receives heavy rainfall during the monsoons. There may be a chance of land sliding, rainstorms due to these roads may be blocked and may not be suitable for the journey. It is not recommended to travel at this time. The winters in Ladakh are harsh. The temperature remains less than zero degrees Celcius to minus twenty-two-degree Celcius. All roads remain closed due to heavy snow. In winters here you can enjoy another activity that is frozen river trekking -” The Chadar Trek”.

  4. If there is any warning board is there at any monuments regarding photography then stick with the rules to avoid any kind of penalty.
  5. ATMs are available at Leh and Kargil so carry an ample amount of cash to avoid any money related difficulty.
  6. If you are staying at some homestay then maintain the harmony with the house owner.
  7. Local people are emotionally connected with religion so respect their sentiments.
  8. Ladakh is a very sensitive area in terms of security so carry all essential identity proof with you and show upon asking by the authority.
  9. The airport is under control of the Indian Army so upon asking to present your all essential documents.
  10. Some places required permit/license so obtain all the necessary permits/licenses prior to the trip.
  11. The authority is responsible for maintaining the law and order so do not misbehave with them.
  12. Do not misbehave with local people on any issue. Try to sort it out peacefully.
  13. Try to avoid any religious comments on your trip mates.
  14. During the visit of religious places maintain the decorum of the place.
  15. All the places are naturally rich so try to avoid plastic items. In any case, you have used it then disposal must be proper.
  16. In place of plastic bags try to use Cloth or Paper Bags.
  17. In Summers it is even cold in comparison to other areas so carry proper clothes to stay warmer.
